Jan Di develops love feelings for Ji Hoo as a result of his generosity to her, which Ji Hoo initially does not reciprocate. But instead of helping Jan Di deal with her loss, Ikuno starts pulling strings behind her back. When you lose someone you love, you need time to process your grief. After Ji Hu's death, Jan Di shuts herself off from the world to avoid feeling pain. One day, he meets with an accident while protecting Jan Di from some bullies and dies. Even so, he keeps on trying because there's no one else out there for him. Ji Hu tries hard to make Jan Di fall in love with him but fails miserably. At that point, he realizes how important she is to him, and he does everything in his power to win her heart. In fact, Ji Hu has no idea how much Jan Di needs him until she breaks up with You Yongchun and feels alone in the world. He takes her side in fights with other boys, and he gives her advice that seems to help her deal with her family. Ji Hu loves Jan Di even though she doesn't return his feelings. She thinks he's funny and cute, but that's all. Love can only blossom when two people's hearts are in sync, but Jan Di doesn't feel that way about Ji Hu. She likes him as a person and as a one-of-a-kind, priceless buddy, but she doesn't love him.
